Fabulous family reunion.
What a great time we had with "the kids" in CA. First we went to Angels Camp, in the mountains east of San Francisco. It was a gold mining town in the old west, like Central City CO where I grew up. The World Mark condo that Karen got was very nice. Kind of like Leavenworth. We rented a car and drove to nearby towns for food and fun. Robin drove up and joined us for a few days.

Getting ready to go
We are looking forward to a get-together with "the kids" -- #1 Son Richard, & his Better ½ Karen, are financing a real family reunion, in California, near #2 Son Robin. We will spend 1 week in the mountains, in Angels Camp, and 1 week in San Francisco, using WorldMark timeshares. It's gonna be sooo great.
We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a fun New Year. Bill Jones joined us for Cheistmas.

Promised "winter storm" arrived, sort of.
The whole Seattle area has been in a tizzy about the coming "winter storm." In this part of the world, 3 inches of snow falling quietly in the night qualifies as a winter "storm," so the TV news puts on constant crawlers about after-school activities that have been cancelled and places being closed, and they kept breaking in on our TV shows to bring us "updates." (Another reason to only watch Netflix.)

Fall in Washington
We are enjoying the beautiful fall colors in Leavenworth WA with our friends, Diane and Charles from CA.

Summer is finito
I have to declare and decree that summer is officially over. Tomorrow is Labor Day (in America), and the temp when I got up at 9 a.m. was 48°F. High today is to be 68°.
We had two different weeks when the temp was in the high 80s, and 3 or 4 weeks of high 70s/low 80s. All interspersed with weeks of regular low 70s. The weather/climate here is really so good, it makes it hard to think of moving. But we are determined to get to Europe next fall, to check out Croatia and Italy.
This fall we are only going to Leavenworth with our good travel buddies, Diane & Charles Fitzgerald.
They will come to visit us and the trees.

Bill came to visit
Our dear friend from Canada, Bill Jones, finally came again for a short stay, June 23 to July 3. We finally finalized the promissory note & mortgage to show that he has half interest in our house in Port Orchard.

Then on to Victoria.
We took ferries from Orcas to Friday Harbor, then FH to Sidney, for the drive to Victoria, B.C.
The condo we had there was not Presidential, but still nice. We were on the ground floor.
Bill Jones came to visit with us, and he brought fresh oysters.
Wonderful stay on Orcas Island.
Charles and Diane visited us, and we had a great time. We went to The Deer Harbor WorldMark on Orcas Island for 4 days. The condo was lovely, Presidential, right on the water at a cute marina. We had a large deck with a big hot tub all to ourselves.

Looking forward to a visit
Charles & Diane Fitzgerald are coming to visit at the end of this month. We will be going to stay in a WorldMark condo in Deer Harbor on Orcas Island for 4 days, then to Victoria, BC for a couple of days in the WorldMark condos there. Yaaay! 😍. I'm afraid the broom blooms will be gone by then.

Wishing everyone a Very Happy 2016!
We stayed home and watched the fireworks on TV. Weather was clear and cold.
Space Needle was glorious, the loveliest of all the city towers.

Merry Christmas...
.... to all you good people who venture to come here.
We are home in Port Orchard WA. Our friend from Canada, Bill Jones, is visiting us for the holidays.
We are having a good time, cooking & eating, watching Christmas movies, shopping, eating out, etc.
We are not going anywhere this year, at least, not yet.
We hope all is well with you, and your holidays are as happy as ours.

TJ & SoCal
After the dentist pried out my broken denture, we stayed overnight while they made a new one and installed it. Then we took the train to visit our friends in Encinitas. Now we are all staying in a nice, WorldMark penthouse condo in Oceanside, for a few days, then back to Encinitas, for a few more days, then back to Port Orchard on November 2.

In Tijuana for dentist
We got up early 10/20/15, and took taxi to bus to Seatac Airport to catch (barely) Alaska Air 11 a.m. flight to San Diego. We were picked up by a car from the Dentist's office, who drove us across the border to Tijuana, where we waited about 2 hours for my turn.
After a grueling ordeal, I finally staggered off to the car to the hotel, with nice, strong upper teeth, but no lower teeth at all. And very sore gums. And I was hungry.
Fortunately, thanks to a very generous and caring and thoughtful son & daughter-in-law, Manfred was able to come, too, and we could go for a nice meal. He had a steak, and I had a marvelous shrimp cream soup. And some wine. And a strawberry milk shake. I felt much better, but sleepy, so I slept for a couple of hours.

Next month - San Diego
We have bought tickets for San Diego October 20 - November 2. I need my dentures fixed, and we will visit our best buds in Encinitas, Chuck and Diane Fitzgerald. They have booked a WorldMark condo in Oceanside for part of that time, including a penthouse for one of the days. It will be so fun!

Nothing much happening
We have decided not to go to Europe this year. We bought some more WorldMark credits, so we need to save money. The weather here in WA was hot in August, but now it's perfect, and the leaves are starting to turn, so it's the best time to be here.
Bill Jones came to visit for 2 weeks, but we didn't go anywhere, except to Port Angeles.

Kirby offers
A Kirby salesman came to our door, offering free carpet shampoos. So I very happily brought him in. Our little rug was a disaster, with candle wax and years of dirt. The Kirby cleaned it good ;)
Yayyy!
Then he came out with the offers. First one, he wouldn't even tell the buying price, but my impression is it was around $2300. $100 down & $100/month "until it's paid off."
After receiving a flat refusal, he proposed a 2nd offer: $1800, $0 down, $40/month.
After I refused that as well, 3rd offer: $900, $0 down, $25/month.
When I flatly refused that as well, he was ready to bargain even further,
but I took pity on him and told him I didn't want his infernal machine at any price.
(I'm just not that into cleaning.)
The lesson is, don't pay the 2st, 2nd, or even 3rd price.
Anyway, I'm very grateful and happy that the rug is clean, now.Yayyy!

Moccasin boots rock
Moccasin boots is something I've always envied, but I never considered buying them because they seemed to be too self-indulgent and extravagant. Now, thanks to the generosity of Richard and Karen, I have a pair.
Those smart, wonderful people remembered a passing remark I had made, and they sent a gift card for Minnetonka moccasin boots for Mother's Day.

Port Orchard is lovely
The flowers have bloomed and now the new leaves are coming and all the trees are changing from their Easter finery to their summer greenery. The Scotch broom is just staring to yellow up everything. I'll put some pictures soon. In the meantime, here's an egg I painted.
